Imposter Syndrome is B.S.!

June 29, 2021
10 a.m. PST/1 p.m. EST

Everyone has been talking about imposter syndrome a lot lately but what is it exactly? Imposter syndrome is basically defined as doubting your abilities and feeling like a fraud. It appears to disproportionately affect high-achieving people, who find it difficult to accept their accomplishments. Many question whether they’re deserving of accolades, promotions or rewards.

C’mon! Really?

Enough of that!  We’re here to dispel this B.S. myth and break it down for you.

In this webinar, we will discuss how the concept of imposter syndrome gaslights us into thinking we’re not worthy and puts the blame on us.

In reality, imposter syndrome focuses our view toward fixing us at work instead of fixing the places where we work.

The Data

A 2020 KPMG study found that three-quarters of executive women identified having experienced imposter syndrome at various points during their careers—and 85% believe it is commonly experienced by women in the corporate world. Imposter syndrome can come at any time during a woman’s professional life span, but appears to show up more at key events during an existing role, or at specific milestones such as a career change or promotion. The study found that 6 in 10 executive women said that promotions or transitions to new positions were the times that they most experienced imposter syndrome.

Join Dr. Rochelle Johnson and Patti Perez in a discussion on how buying into “imposter syndrome” hinders our professional development, pathologizes “normal” feelings and emotions, and also may help to continue inequity and exclusion in the workplace.  They’ll identify, and provide solutions to when you may not be feeling “good enough” and identify ways on how leaders can promote inclusive workplaces, channel healthy self-doubt into motivation, and to broaden the definition of what a “professional” looks and acts like.

They will also identify easy-to-implement strategies that will help you go from feeling like you don’t deserve a seat at the table to owning the room.
